Despite the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic, the SSBA Championship proceeded as planned with 16 golfers bracing the Scottish conditions at Stirling GC on Friday 11th September.
As you may be able to see from the pictures attached, there was a lot of water on the greens, though this is nothing for the average seafarer!
It was a hard-fought competition as always, with Mr P Hallas of Forth Ports emerging as not only overall winner of The Cayzer Cup (individual best score for an SSBA member), but also of the Veterans Salver (over 60 SSBA member best score), The Donald Trophy alongside Mr A Smith of Forth Ports as a team of 2 with best combined stableford scores, and longest drive (13th)!
Surprisingly he did leave one available trophy for someone else to win, with Mr A Collins winning nearest the pin (6th). Best visitor (non-SSBA member) went to Mr D Wright.
Everyone at the SSBA would like to thank Northlink and Rhyal Engineering for providing prizes of Caps, Golf Balls, Pens, Whiskey etc. it was much appreciated by all who took part.
We would also like to thank Stirling GC for hosting us. The clubhouse and staff were great considering the tighter restrictions we are all living under at present, and the food was fantastic.
And finally, a big thanks must go to Angus Ferguson for playing such a big part in organising the day, and also going to the effort of capturing the wooden spoon!
We look forward to doing it all again next year…hopefully in better conditions.
